Backgrounds
Fishtail Mountain from lakeside in Pokhara, Nepal. Pokhara was
one of the best places from the trip and sitting by the lake, with
a coffee and good music with the towering Himalayas as a backdrop
is simply ethereal.
A stupa (Buddhist burial mound) on the Manali-Leh Road. The road
covers a vast range of types of scenery and this spot at Rumtse
just past and down from the Tanglang La pass at 17,582ft was like
being on Mars.
The Taj Mahal from one of the corner minarets at sunset. The world's
best known monument to love, the monument is still one of the seven
wonders of the word.
The Nepali Ghurkas known around the world as "The Bravest
of the Brave" in formation in Durber Square, Katmandu Nepal
for the annual parade of the Kumari living goddess.
The origional "Give Away Plan" failure...
One of the few things that I would classify as a "failure" from
the trip was my original plan to send out gifts from India. I had no idea
that sending out small packages would turn out to be as problematic as
it was and that finding things worth sending out as presents would be
so hard. This was one of those learning's but unfortunately left me disappointed
in not being able to send out things as I'd hoped. I did send out a few
gifts and that original page is here. Unfortunately
I had to turn to digital files as something to give to the people that
visit the site. But perhaps someone somewhere now has a desktop background
that makes them smile everyday when they turn on their computer and for
this I am very pleased to be able to give away smiles.
