- Padum - Rangdum
(Day 101)
This morning was the
antithesis of the one before...we were up and packed ready to go at 6:30am,
the sun was out, the day warm and there was barely a cloud in the sky.
It was one of those mornings impossible not to set out with a light heart
and we drove out of Padum this time with a broad smile.
There was little eventful about the journey other then it went smoothly and we made it back to Rangdum in the early afternoon and not too tired. The trip was the exact opposite of the way down in that after seven days of riding with the very worst being the last day, it was a sore tiring and none too happy ride down. After three days of rest, a bright sunny day of riding was a joy even if it was long and the road hard.
We did have a bit of trouble in that making a stop to photograph a local man weaving outside in the morning sun, Steve's bike went down in sand, he was a bit scraped up, and the bike had a few bent bars. Again I find that an Enfield fully loaded is simply a mule to try to control and even simple things like turning around will often find one with the bike down as it tipped just a little too far and it was just too heavy to push back up in the turn.
Back at Rangdum, we are again in the hotels from hell and the restaurants with the omlet, chapatti and dal as the full menu. With nothing to do, it is an afternoon of reading and very early to bed even though sleep in this cold place without blanks and on these beds is certainly not something to look forward too.
