Sunset over the mountains but the clouds block the white peaks towering in the far distance.

2003-08-27 - Kausani (Day 134)

Kausani has an incredible view over the Himalayas stretching out as far as the eye can see - or so I was told. I rode up in the rain and the rain continued through the next day. I'd been riding hard since Amritsar so taking a day off and finishing up "The Other Sex" was very pleasant so no complaints about the rain but I did miss seeing the view. The hotel I stopped at had a ring of panoramic photos from the town, which really did look lovely but looks like I picked the wrong time of year to visit. There is an asram and a number of small hotels though that for 6 US$ / day would make this a wonderfully quiet and laid-back place to chill out - if it weren't the rainy season.

The afternoon clears up a little and I walk back down the road to see if there were any photographs waiting for me to take them. As I've just enough fuel to make it to the next pump so I am on foot as I explore the small town and there isn't much to see but the quiet and the peace of the wet roads is enough for a pleasant walk. It is probably best that I didn't disturb the peach with the beast's "thump - thump - thump".
