(Day 137)
7:00am and there is
pounding on my door...ugh...when traveling in India its travel on "Indian
time" which means the day starts at 6:00am with it being perfectly normal
to have waiters pounding on the door to ask if there is a breakfast order...
rrrrgh...refusing to live on Indian time, I turn over put the pillow over
my head and go back to sleep.
When I do awake, I get a quick fix of BBC, then a deep dose of Larry King
and then back into a stupor of HBO. By the afternoon, my body rebelled
from the overdose and I broke free of the pusher, and went down to a cyber-café
to put up the latest journal pages. It is amazing how TV or the lack of
it changes the day. With the average American watching 7-8 hours of TV
a day, I wonder if that is why I see so few Americans in India...they
would suffer from withdrawal. However, on the other hand it is probably
the place to go to break cold turkey with that nasty habit. As to myself,
this trip has broken my "AOL" - always-online - internet habit though
like other drugs that one kicks the habit only when it is unavailable;
I wonder if I will slip back into its clinches when again I have ADSL
to the bathroom.
