- Mugling - Pokhara
(Day 152)
As I set off the morning mists from last night's rain were still clinging to the road that with the deep green of the countryside, and deep blue of the sky was a platform to ride on like walking out on a diving board. Pokhara was an easy four hours and by mid-day we had settled into deep soft seats in a restaurant overlooking Phewa Lake and I knew I was not going anywhere for a while. The original plan was to head back in two days but just looking at the little tourist town by the lake with its laid back atmosphere and all the comforts it was easy to see I wouldn't want to leave anytime soon.
The afternoon finds me circling half the lake on a small village road and then doing another breathtaking drive back to the hotel in an attempt to beat the rain though this time it is futile and I am drenched by the time I make it back to town.
Unfortunately, the weather is dictating much of the trip now and I am frustrated to find that every journal is mentioning something as common as the weather but I should have timed leaving Ladakh and Kashmir better and waited another month before setting out on this trip. Coming even at the tail end of the rainy season on a bike just left too much being dictated by the rain.
