2003-09-30 - Pokhara (Day 167)

Today was yet another day spent on my haunches at a bike shop. The Mule had refused to even turn over for the last week and I guessed the rain had gotten somewhere it should not. It turned out to be worse then I thought with engine flooded with water and the oil a white soup of oil & water. It may have been the rain but from the looks of it when I went over into the river it pulled water in through the air filter into the engine. It was a mess with drying out the cylinder, changing the oil and tearing the carburetor apart yet again.

Most of the day was spent hanging out at the shop watching The Mule get its full massage and talking to one of the Himalayan Enfielder's who works in Pokhara as a mechanic. He had a few stories about the Lhasa, Tibet trip which I had been too late to join and it sounds like it was a heck of a trip. If you are interested I understand there will be at least one trip in 2004 so check their website. I'm already juggling schedules in my mind so I can make that ride.
