- Khujaraho
(Day 244)
The touts that are worse in Khujaraho then any other place I have seen finally get to me and I go sit in a field under a tree and watch the blue of an Indian winter, which turns out to be a perfect match for me that day.
I'm able to pop a couple of sticks of Polo, the mint which I swear must have something addictive in it as I simply can't put them down and each time I find them I buy more at a time. Today I found a shop that had six rolls and purchased his whole supply but only after making him promise to get some more quick as these would only last a couple of days.
Some more pictures and I start what is going to be a heck of a task preparing the exceptionally large number of photographs I have taken at the temples for upload. The carvings were simply fascinating and I could not stop clicking.
To tie up the evening I went and took in the sound and light show from the proper point, which is in the park in the center of all the temples. While watching from the tree-top the night before was nice, seeing the temples all lit up accompanied by a wonderfully done story of their construction and history was simply awe inspiring and even outshone the light show on the pyramids in Egypt.
I simply cannot stop saying how impressed I am by these temples that are so different then what I expected but are so amazing. This is definitely a place I would rank with the very top of all the places I have visited on this trip!
